lalala

2 days ago was Sec One Induction Camp '06. Some 23rd stayed overnight and we had a 'Study Marathon'! Cool! Sabrina and I had a bet: Study throughout the night and no sleeping, or owe a forfeit. And the result was: we had a TIE... haha! In fact, besides us, sok teng, desmond, yanhong and some others never slept too! This was the second time in my life which I had a sleepless night! Yay, I did it again! though there wasn't any great benefit...but we helped to patrol round the school and make sure no strangers lurking.. hahaz.. doing a service to the school eh.. while the teachers and campers were sleeping. Mr Loh woke up during PT and he praised 23rd for taking good care of the school! He even used 'mushy' words which made my hair stand! lolx :p

Talked to some Sec 1 councillor trainees and find some with much potential! I remembered talking to one (i forgot the name) whose brother is Pei Yong, the Sec One coordinator of the 18th SC. Also, talked with another boy, think the name is Cheng Yong, who likes to DEBATE. Hahaz.. Both definitely have the aptitude and the potential! To the Sec 2 councillors, I think all of you can definitely do better :) Of course, some of you have surpassed yourself and SHINE! That's GREAT!! Though all of us have high expectations on your batch, what's important is to do your very best and always learn from one another and shine as a batch. Put yourselves into other people's shoes. Never think only about yourselves. Find solutions to all misunderstandings asap. Student Council is a big family, it is not segregated by batches. Differences in styles of working are not unexpected, however, remember that all of us have a COMMON GOAL in mind, everyone is working hard towards the common goal, and the unique working styles from each person when combined together would produce really good results! Jia You! Shine with Confidence, Lead with Pride!

O level is so near. But the big problem is: the nearer the examination, the less I want to study! [The motivation to study is inversely proportional to the time left to taking the O level...] OMG. I know this should never happen but I just feel it that way. Think what Ms Phua once said has happened to me, that is, no more energy left after working for so hard in the past, especially for Prelims... Must really get back to myself once more as soon as possible! Good luck!

late now!!

Went to the eastern side of Singapore to celebrate my cousin's birthday yesterday! The condominium where we held the celebration is really an ostentatious one-the Changi Way Condominium (if I remembered correctly). The swimming pool is approximately 200m long and at least 6-8m wide. There is even music being played inside the swimming pool! That is, if you swim deep enough, you will be able to hear it, which the music from what I heard is a piece of tune from Mozart! COOL!! Also, there is a cinema, which the size is about the size of the cinema at Jurong Entertainment Centre, showing movies every day. There are a number of playgrounds, which are similar to those found in the Jurong Lake Park, scattered around the condominium area. There is a air-conditioned self-study room too. It is really relaxing sitting on the comfortable sofa inside the room, especially when you look up at the ceiling which is about 6m high! After the celebration, we went to the owner's house (ppl called her AiLing). Her house is really nice and comfortable! It is air-conditioned, with a big plasma television and a really comfortable sofa! The whole decoration is fabulous-simple but extremely nice. You would love yourself in every single bit if you were to live in such a condominium because you really get to enjoy your life living in such an environment! Really!

graduation night

Yesterday was Graduation Night. When I was sitting in the hall, I was reminiscing the past 4 years in JSS. It's been an enjoyable and a fruitful period of my life. I never regret joining Jurong Secondary School! I'll always remember the caring teachers who would always nagged at us because they are concerned and worried for us, the craziest classmates and colleagues who brought laughters to me, as well as the fond memories I had in JSS. I vaguely remember the 1st day in JSS when I was a blur 12-year-old boy first time stepping into a much bigger school than in my primary school. I even imagined that I might get lost! Then, I went up to the temporary block for flag-raising. After that, it's our orientation which I had really enjoyed very much. The 21st SC councillors who were in-charged of our class were Ahmad, Serene Wong and Shir Gi. They were very nice and caring towards our class (1/3 '03)! I think that's all I remember on my first day of school and almost forget what activities we played during orientation, but I know they must be fun! =p

After the ceremony ended, it's BuFfEt TimE! But the sad thing was I ate only a little of the food. I spent most of the time taking photos with my friends!! =)' My primary school friends: Shi Hua and Alanmanda. My lower sec friends: Wenxing and yukai. My student council friend who has quitted due to his tight schedule: Rene Jr. And of course my sec 2 councillors, 23rd Student Council, Class 4/5, Explorers, as well as my teachers!! Had a wonderful time yesterday night! Wanna say A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU ALL! (=

haish...

Oh!! I can't eat properly!!! All because of the 2 ulcers! The ulcer that causes me trouble is the one on my right side of my tongue which is in contact with my molars. This makes it inevitable for me to have to slide my tongue against my teeth when I am chewing or swallowing. I even have difficulty to make the food into a bolus! It is extremely painful yea know! This morning, I couldn't force myself to finish my bread anymore after only one bite, and I went to school with an empty stomach. Though the people around me did not notice, but I do heard my hunger pangs quite a few times -_-" Now, the ulcers are still painful. I don't think that I can eat any sort of hard food already until my ulcers have disappeared. For tonight's dinner, I think I would have to eat porridge instead. (Good news partially cos I dun have to use energy to chew...haha)

Mr Lau is really angry with 4-5 cos we left yesterday afternoon when we were supposed to complete a Chinese High Physics Mock Exam at 2.30pm. *sigh Many of us did not feel like taking anymore mock exams, and also there were rumours saying that the paper is postponed (which is not the case in reality), and thus many started to leave. I did ask gw if it was really postponed and he said 'yes'. So, seeing that most of the class had disappeared and with the 'confirmation' from gw, I left too and proceeded to the canteen. After a quite some time, Mr Lau came to the canteen and met some 4-5 ppl and asked us why nobody was at the classroom. From his looks, I could tell that he was truly disappointed with 4-5. Moreover, my weakest science is Physics~~~ *sigh again...

After prelim, the days in school are to do mock papers nearly everyday and for every lesson. It's making me more and more tired. Especially when after a particular lesson, teachers would just give us about 5 sets of other schools' prelim papers for us to practise. Like yesterday, Mrs Tong gave us 5 sets of Chemistry papers while today, Ms Tang also gave us 5 sets of SS papers. Looks like all 16-year-old boys and girls are destined to go through such process whereby you need to struggle with your academics and handle the stress which is increasing as the exams are nearing [Bio O level Practical next Tue!]. Besides that, you also need to have a strategy in which you have to pay more attention to certain subjects which you are more confident with and that you will score better rather than subjects which you know that you might not be able to improve that much despite the efforts that you put in. SeC 4 LiFe~~~

What are wasted opportunities?

From now till O level, I'll just type some essays which I think is good in my blog. (So not considered blogging la hor...haha) Hope by typing them out, I can learn some vocabulary and good phrases and apply them in O! Heex...

What are wasted opportunities?

How often have we heard of someone say that they have wasted an opportunity? There is a mixture of regrets, of wistfulness... in fact, it could be even one of pure frustration. For example, a businessman may have been given a good proposition but did not take up the offer. Later on, he lived to regret it.

What exactly is an opportunity? It is a chance to have or to do something which one thinks would be beneficial to one. For example, a student may be offered scholarships to study overseas. Everyone tells him that it is a good opportunity for him to further his lot in life as an overseas degree is deemed prestigious and augurs well for his future career. However, he may not take it up if his family does not allow him. Then many will say that he had wasted an opportunity.

Opportunities are like this... you have to recognise tham and hope that by seizing them, they will lead to certain desired outcomes.

Opportunities arise as one goes through life, whether at home, in studies or later on at work. Those who are born rich or educated parents have a head start in life. A rich son can enter a better school or an educated parent can give informed advice to his children. It is up to these fortunate people to seize the opportunites presented to them or these would be wasted.

Hence, opportunities present themselves at certain times. The person who does not seize them would have wasted these opportunities. However, one must be ready for the opportunites when they present themselves. A person who has prepared himself by acquiring the right qualifications and work experience would be well equipped to seize the opportunity if the job he desires comes by. He would not let such an opportunity slip away and wasted it.

Therefore, opportunities should be easily taken. There is a saying, 'fortune favours the brave'. After all, there is no harm trying.

Life presents us with opportunites. It is up to us to seize them. Even if they tured out with undesirable outcomes, one would not blame oneself as after all, one would have tried.

What would be sad for one to hear would be about people who bemoan their lack of opportunities or not seizing opportunities which would have led to desirable outcomes. We can only commiserate with the person who says that he should have married that good girl or that he should have pursued that course which would have otherwise led to fortune. But luck is the game of life and if you were to ask every person, he would have his tale of wasted opportunities.

[END]

After reading this essay, I think that we should seize each opportuniy that is presented to us. Even if you failed to achieve the deisred outcomes, the most important thing is that you have tried for you would never know what would have happened unless you do it. After all, the experience which you have gained is invaluable and you did not lose at all because you gain something from it. =)

Many of life's failures are people who did not realise how close they were to success when they gave up.
