last day of Feb '07

Here to just revive my blog...

Watched The Arena yesterday. Raffles Institution was debating with Hwa Chong Institution and the motion of the debate is "Singaporeans youths are politically apathetic". Raffles Intitution emerged as the winner of the debate. The debate was very exciting with both schools rebutting against each other's stand and point of views. Also, there were humours created by the boys which relieved the tense atmosphere. Wooh! DeBaTe!! lolx...

Anyway, the new series of Naruto, Naruto: Shippūden, totally rawks! Naruto has grown up, both physically and mentally. It evokes a sense of nostalgia in me when watching the naruto, as well as other characters in the anime, to grow more mature. Nonetheless, the story of Naruto: Shippūden remains as exciting as ever, or even more exciting than the first series of Naruto. Episode 4 of the anime will be broadcasted tomorrow at 7.27p.m. in Japan and soon I will catch it on YouTube! =>

Today is the last day of February and tomorrow will be the month of March.
Time really flies.... =]

The Arena

Happy Valentine's Day! =D

Watched The Arena yesterday. Hwa Chong Institution was debating with CHIJ Katong Convent. I'm not really sure about the motion but it was something like "Preventing youths from exposure to sex will lead to social problems". The winner is Hwa Chong Institution. I had expected the result to be such jugding not from my preconceptions about the schools but from the performances of both teams. Indeed, HCI deserves to win the debate because the boys spoke fluently, confidently, assertively, and they used a wide range of vocabulary and their sentence structures were correct. However, I do not deny that CHIJ KC did give HCI "an easy time" as commented by one of the judges. Overall, I think it is the HCI's team spirit and their ability to bring across new ideas about the motion substantiated with concrete examples that impress the judges, as well as the viewers, and thus they won the debate! I do have alot to learn from the HCI and hope that I could be like them one day...

O level result

Got back my O level result yesterdy afternoon. I was very nervous while sitting down in the hall. I could even feel my heart pumping hard and loud! lolx..

I didn't make it to stage.. diaox.. =_=" Haha.. expected la~ So I had to line up to receive my result from my form teacher. Well, I got a neither horrendous nor an excellent result, but an acceptable and a reasonable one. It's only okay to me... My L1R5 is 11. Here's my summary of my result: EL - B3; Combined Humanities - A2; EM - A2; AM - A2; Physics - A2; Chemistry - A2; Biology - A1 and Chinese - A1. If only my mathematics can get an A1.... *sigh... But never mind, it's all over le. Should work hard for 'A' level instead!

Congrats to Allan who's the top scorer of the school! And also to geok woon, eleen, fahmi, aaron, yiqing, ling yi, desmond, eng tong, meiqi, ching wei, suat kee and many more... who made it to the stage to receive the certificate from Ms Tham, not bad huh... Hahax =)

It's now more dilemmas for me. Gonna make a choice from the choices available. It's certainly not easy for me. Gonna go back to JJC to ask for advice from teachers and my friends on Monday...

Till then, bye! =]

dilemma

Just want to share what my civics tutor had discussed with our class during GP lesson which actually made my head nearly burst. It's basically about ethical dilemma in the medical aspect. I realised that it is really difficult for me to really make a choice between the two arguments when both are equally 'correct'.

I shall write about euthanasia first.

View 1: Euthanasia would be used as an abuse. The majority of people seeking euthanasia is very vulnerable and can easily be manipulated by ill-willed people. They believe in the 'right to live'. Legalising euthanasia is the catalyst for the wholesale destruction of human kind. They believe that people should die naturally.

View 2: Euthanasia is a matter of personal freedom. It is a form of relieving pain, both physical and emotional. They believe in the 'right to die', or the right to a 'good death'. The desire to have control over our lives is a fundamental part of our humanity. They would like to have a choice about how and when they die.

Next, I shall write about abortion.

View 1 (Pro-life): The right to life. Life begins at conception. At this stage, the embryo has individuality and uniqueness and the building blocks for the development of life. Abortion is homicide. Unless this homicide is justified, perhaps because it is neccesary to save the life of the woman, then abortion is murder.

View 2 (Pro-choice): The right to one's body. We cannot force others to donate blood or kidney to save another person. Thus, it has been argued that women cannot be forced to deliver unwanted children. A woman's right to control her pregnancy outweighs any right claimed for the embryo, which is seen as not yet having the full rights of a person. Abortion is a private decision.

Till now, I still cannot decide which view I should stand by... A dilemma indeed... Anyway, just don't let yourself fall into these problematic situations and there would be no dilemmas to vex about! =]

'O' Level results gonna release this Friday. Getting real nervous and worried~ Have been trying hard to be optimistic but dare not to set high expectations or I may get real disappointed to myself. Hope everything goes well ba~
