start of a new phase of life - Uni

Went for a 1 day pre-camp and 6 days FOC activities last week. That's 7 days in all for my School's FOC. The food sucks. But the seniors, fellow freshies and the activities managed to compensate for the lack of quality in the food. One activity, Fright Night, was rather scary since it's dark and there were seniors dressed in black and would try to scare you. SP night was really a unique experience for me. Never have I had to perform in front of a group of girls to impress them... lol. But glad that I passed their stage with relative ease. Then again, the unbuttoning of my shirt while walking towards them and singing 月亮代表我的心 still make me feel really paiseh~
Never mind, next year I would treat my freshies 'better' =P

It's really magical and amazing to see how strangers on Day 0 could mingle around comfortably after days of living together in a camp. That's what I like about camps - strangers become friends eventually. Moreover they're my school mates, some even my course mates. It's a good start to another new phase of life :)

So I got my timetable for my Year 1 Sem 1. It's as bad as my JC timetable.
Mon: 2.30pm - 3.30pm
Tue: 9.30am-12.30pm, 1.30pm - 3.30pm, 4.30pm-6.30pm
Wed: 11.30am-12.30pm, 1.30pm-4.30pm
Thur: 8.30am-10.30am, 10.30am-11.30am, 11.30am-12.30pm
Fri: 9.30am-11.30am, 11.30am-12.30pm, 12.30pm-1.30pm, 2.30pm-4.30pm

I'll be clearing 17AUs this sem. Gonna study Chemistry, Math and Physics! My gosh~

My syllabi:

Basic Inorganic Chemistry with Lab
  • Stoichiometry
  • Atomic Structure
  • Ionic bond
  • Covalent bond
  • Molecular Orbital Theory
  • Chemical Forces
  • IR Spectroscopy
  • Periodicity
  • An Introduction to Transition Metal Chemistry
  • Nomenclature, Structure and Isomers of Transition Metal Compounds
Basic Organic Chemistry with Lab
  • Structure and Bonding
  • Polar covalent bonds: Acids and Bases
  • Organic reactions
  • Alkanes and their stereochemistry
  • Stereochemistry
  • Alkenes: Structure and reactivity
  • Alkynes: Intro to organic synthesis
  • Benzene and Aromaticity
  • Benzene: Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution
  • Organohalides
  • Nucleophilic substitutions and eliminations
  • Alcohols and Phenols
  • Ethers and Epoxides: Thiols and Sulfides
  • Aldehydes and Ketones: Nucleophilic Addition
  • Carboxylic Acids and Nitriles
  • Carboxylic Acid Derivatives: Nucleophilic Acyl Substitution
So the above is the Chemistry components for the Sem. Most are from A level. But I have forgotten most of what were used to be my knowledge. =/

For math,

Calculus for the Sciences I
  • Functions and Graphs
  • Real numbers
  • Differentitation of Functions of one variable
  • Derivative as a rate of change
  • Chain rule
  • Implicit functions
  • Inverse functions
  • Local maxima and minima
  • Indefinite and definite integrals
  • Applications of integration
  • Methods of integration
  • Fundamental theorem of calculus
Needa revise all the formulae >.<

For physics,

Foundations of Physics I
  • Mechanics
  • Wave motions
  • Thermodynamics
Sian ttm! Dun really like physics since sec sch. But since this is a pass/fail course, shd by okay.

Another module which I'll be taking is Forensic Science. Sounds interesting...

Time to head to the library again (:
